Poems for peace

POEMS FOR PEACE

PEACE

Peace is a flower,
Peace is a bird.
Peace is the sun,
Peace is the moon.
Peace is you,
Peace is me.
Peace is what you want!

(Ellie Friedman)

A WORLD OF PEACE?
The world is round, the world is wide.
What about the folks inside?
There is peace in places, but not in all.
That's too bad for our big blue ball.
People of all colors we can find.
To live in peace, we must be kind.
Living together, white and black.
Love and forgiveness is what we lack.
Peaces for all is what we seek.
For our souls, we hope to keep.

WORLD WAR I

The First World War, also known as Great War, was a war fought primarily in Europe, which began on July 28, 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918, when Germany asked the armistice and later on 28 June 1919, the warring countries signed the Treaty of Versailles.

More than 9 million combatants were killed, an extraordinarily high figure, given the technological and industrial sophistication of belligerents, with its consequent tactical stalemate. He is considered the fifth deadliest conflict in history of mankind.

He received the epithet world, because in it they were involved all major industrial and military powers of the day, divided into two opposing alliances.

Songs for the peace

There are some songs letters talking about peace. I'd like you enjoy them!

"Imagine"
JOHN LENNON
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

"Blowing in the wind"
BOB DYLAN

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you can call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Yes, how many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, how many times can a man turn his head
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Yes, how many times must a man look up
Before he can really see the sky?
Yes, how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

JIHADI WARS

Jihad is a concept of Islam is not a religious obligation for Muslims.
Islam is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion that worships Allah alone without partners. It is estimated that there are currently between 1,000 and 1,200 million Muslims in the world. According to the Vatican, Islam (together with all its ramifications) is the most widespread religion in the world, which recently surpassed the number of Catholics. Islam began with the preaching of Muhammad in 622 in Mecca (in present-day Saudi Arabia). Under the leadership of Muhammad and his successors, Islam spread rapidly. There is discrepancy between Muslims and non-Muslims if spread religious or military imposition, or by converting people to Islam.

Charles Joseph

  • Charles Joeseph writes about peace in a way that idolises it. His poem Peace reflects his interpretation of the word and offers these views to the audience. Though simply put, the poem accurately sums up the concept of peace and phrases it in a way that most people would understand.

Peace

Peace is but a concept
Peace is but a word
Peace is never hostile
But frequently deferred
Peace is to be tranquil
Peace may not be real
Peace cannot be taken
And peace you cannot steal

With peace you can be placid
With peace you can be calm
With peace there can be silence
With peace freedom from harm

Peace is realisation
Peace may be pursued
Peace may not be found
And peace can not intrude
Peace is only freedom
From unwanted influence
With exclusion of oppression
Peace is common sense.

Wars and Conflicts

South Sudanese Civil War:

The South Sudanese Civil War is an on going conflict in South Sudan between forces of the government and opposition forces. It began on the evening of 15 December 2013. President Salva Kiir has called it a coup attempt and announced that it had been put down the next day, but fighting again erupted on 16. Early estimates stated that at least 1,000 people were reported to have been killed and over 800 other people were injured. In January 2013 Kiir replaced the inspector general of the national police service with a lieutenant from the army, and dismissed six deputy chiefs of staff and 29 major generals in the army.

Libyan Civil War:

The Libyan Civil War is an on going conflict between Islamist forces and forces aligned with the elected Libyan parliament. At the beginning of 2014, Libya was governed by the General National Congress. Islamists had controlled the assembly since having Nouri Abusahmain elected president of the General National Congress in June 2013. The conflict escalated on 13 July when Islamists, reacting to the landslide electoral defeat of Islamist politicians, launched Operation Libya Dawn to seize Tripoli International Airpot, finally capturing it on 23 August after forty-one days of fighting. The conflict killed 2,700 people.

Peace
It does not mean to be in a place
Where there is noise, trouble
or hard work. It meansto be in
the midst of those things and still
be calm in your heart.

Riken Shrestha

Riken Shrestha’s poem I Dream of a World of Peace describes the hopes of a person regarding world peace. The importance of this poem lies within the optimistic verses that it contains. If everybody applied some of these ideals to their own lives, the world would be one step closer to peace.

I Dream of a World of Peace

I dream of a world of peace,
Where people can live a life of ease.
World where there is no difference between rich and poor,
Life being pleasant for living ever more.

I dream of a world of happiness,
Where there is no sight of selfishness.
Where each and everyone can get their needs,
And have belief in their deeds.

I dream of a world of kindness,
Where people can know that value of love is priceless.
Where people could realise that of earth we are all children,
And to have a kind heart is better for all men.

I dream of a world of loving mates,
Where people can realise all are great.
Where people can know that in this earth,
With a kind heart people must give birth.
I dream of a world of peace,
Where people can live a life of ease!
